Town Court

Fine payments are taken daily from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Payment options include cash, money orders, MasterCard / Visa. No personal checks are accepted.

Court is held every Wednesday in the 2nd-floor courtroom of Town Hall.

  • 5:30 pm Criminal
  • 6 pm Traffic Matters

Town Justices Mark J. Frentzel and Mark S. Nemeth share the bench on Wednesday evenings. Justice Nemeth sits every first and third Wednesday of the month, with Justice Frentzel sitting every second and fourth Wednesday.

Grand Island Town Court has jurisdiction over all vehicle and traffic matters, misdemeanors, and violations.

Assistant District Attorneys are assigned to our court, appearing every Wednesday evening, representing the People of the State of New York.

Small Claims

Applications can be filed Monday through Friday from 9 am - 3 pm. A mandatory filing fee must be paid at the time of filing. The maximum claim allowed in a town court is $3,000. The fee for a claim of $1,000 or less is $10 and for a claim of $1,001 to $3,000 is $15. Corporations cannot file a Small Claims matter in a town court; they must go to the nearest City Court. Evictions

Prior to filing for eviction please contact the court at 716-773-9600, ext. 650. The court will need to advise you of significant changes in eviction procedures / processes. Please note the Grand Island Town Court does not provide eviction paperwork.  Eviction paperwork is accepted on Fridays only between 9 am - 3 pm.
