Overview
This board's mission is to plan for the ongoing future recreational opportunities for the residents of Grand Island with the focus on preserving and maintaining our natural, historical and cultural resources. The Board serves as the recreation policy advisory body for the Departments of Parks and Recreation and the Town. It consults with and advises the Council on matters affecting the overall recreational policies of the Town, the acquisition and use of lands and properties related to the total community recreation program, and its long-range projected programs for recreation, parks, and playgrounds. Seven members serve five-year terms expiring on December 31 of the year indicated.
Ex-officio members of the board are the Parks Crew Chief and Supervisors of the Recreation Department and the Golden Age Center.
